Rachel Meehan and Peacock Illustration

I am an artist, based in rural southern Scotland.  Trained as a fine art printmaker, I completed my postgraduate studies at Glasgow School of Art.   My art work is inspired by the colours of nature and a vivid imagination.  I also have a keen interest in nature and the environment which is reflected in my love of gardening and plants. Many of my images are based on plants from my own garden.  As well as a keen interest in plants I also have a love of exotic and colourful birds and sometimes combine these with my plant drawings.

Each piece of work is hand drawn working from black to white before the colours are added. Complex pieces can take several weeks to complete.

As well as producing a range of unique art works, from drawings to dragons, I now have a range of products available online and in selected outlets.  All my products are made in the UK.

I live with my husband, in a house situated well above sea level where we grow much of our own food and, when the sun shines, we generate our own electricity.

I love reading and in my spare time I also write young adult fiction and illustrated books.  I also check my garden and surrounding areas regularly for signs of triffids......
